Strong branches.
Strong branches.
Strong Branches was launched in 2020 to obey the scriptures to serve and care for the widowed saints of The Downtown Church.
Initially launched to encourage, strengthen, and minister to those who have lost a spouse, it has become its’ own active and vital ministry of the church.
I Timothy 5:3 "Honor widows that are widows indeed."
Strong Branches is an active group with many events. Recent highlights include the Holland Tulip Festival, sailing on “Friends Goodwill” Tall ship, Meijer Garden, Bay City boat cruise, Shipshewana & Dutch Creek Animal Park, an iMax event, the Christmas parade, and the Merry Mile light drive!
Strong Branches also raised funds and traveled to Niagara Falls, Ontario for a 5-day excursion in September 2023.
Serving.
Strong Branches is passionate about loving and serving others. We have an active prayer ministry and regular weekly Bible devotionals.
One of their ongoing ministries is to serve coffee and donuts on Sunday mornings to show their gratitude for the support of the Downtown church. They maintain a spirit of readiness whenever someone needs prayer, a listening ear, a meal, a visit, a ride, etc.
Strong Branches annually creates gift baskets for all those who receive chemotherapy the week of Christmas. They also serve in a local assisted living home to minister to its residents.
Walking Together.
Walking the Path of Widowhood Together
Some have been on this path for a while, and some are just beginning their journey. The path is filled with mountains and valleys, bumps, twists, and turns. Navigating this path can be hard and lonely. Whether you are in a place where you need someone who understands, or if you are in a place open to listening to the pain and struggles of others, we have a place for you.
Testimonials.
I have only been a member of Strong Branches for a short time since the passing of my husband in August 2023. I was so broken and didn't know or feel that I would ever come out of it, but due to the leadership and the members of Strong Branches, have helped me tremendously. They will talk to you. They will help you in any way that they can and they have fellowship with you I thank God every day for the leadership of Strong Branches and for all that they've done for me already.

If you don’t do anything you will not be good for yourself or anyone else. Strong Branches reaches out to others who need help getting through the pain after the loss of a husband or a wife. It’s the best thing that I have ever done.
