At DC Kids, we know how important your child’s spiritual foundation is. That’s why every Sunday and Wednesday we create a safe, fun, and welcoming environment where kids can laugh, learn, and grow in their faith. Our team loves kids, and we’re here to partner with you as your child discovers how much Jesus loves them.

THE PURPOSE OF DC SUNDAY SCHOOL

  • To give kids a basic knowledge of the Bible (main Bible stories)
  • To assist parents in educating their children in the Bible

OUR GOALS

  • Teach kids the Bible in ways they understand and remember.
  • Support parents as the first and most important spiritual influence.
  • Raise kids who know how to stand strong for their faith.

What Kids Can Expect.

Your child won’t just sit and listen—they’ll be part of the story! With music, games, crafts, and interactive teaching, kids experience the Bible in a way that sticks with them and makes faith fun.

Age Groups.

  • Nursery (Birth–4 years): A safe, loving space where little ones learn that church is a fun and caring place to be.
  • DC Kids (Ages 5–11): Engaging Bible stories, worship, and activities designed to help kids grow closer to God.

Stan and Barb Russell Downtown Church in Battle Creek, MI

Stan Russell

Stan Russell holds an A.A. in Christian Education, a B.A. in Theology, and an M.A. in Professional Counseling. He is licensed with the United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI) and serves as a licensed professional counselor in the state of Michigan. Alongside his wife, Barb, Stan has been involved in children’s ministry for over 30 years. Together, they are passionate about helping children not only experience salvation but also grow strong and grounded in their faith.

Barb Russell

Barb Russell has dedicated over 30 years to homeschooling her four children and more than 12 years to classroom teaching. A passionate servant leader, she has been actively involved in Sunday School for over three decades and volunteers across multiple ministries within the church. Beyond her work in education and ministry, she serves as Board President for both the Cereal City Concert Band and Ascend Academy, supporting community and arts initiatives with the same devotion she brings to her faith.
